Once sites of intense stone extraction, these quarries now exist as deep voids in the terrain, often perceived as scars marked by ecological imbalance, waterlogging, and neglect. Yet, these voids also embody immense opportunity as constructed topographies that integrate geology, ecology, and cultural memory. The study explores global and Indian precedents of quarry rehabilitation, analyzing how neglected quarries can be reimagined as adaptive landform architectures that serve both ecological restoration and social needs. Through literature review, site analysis, and case studies, the research proposes design strategies that embed architecture within the landform to create a Museum of Geology, cultural and recreational spaces, sacred water water-based zones, and community resource centres . These interventions aim to heal landscapes, reinforce community identity, and redefine abandoned quarries as places of ecological renewal and cultural expression.
