They are powered by diesel engines, whose drawbacks to a large extent are now overcome by nuclear reactors. It travel into the sea by means of ballast tank, so the design of ballast tank is one of the most important aspect. It should be design in such a way that the submarine should submerged by partially filling the ballast tank. In this project, we have designed and developed a density variation mechanism of submarine using air chamber and ballast tank. We use the rolling pump which plays a vital role in this mechanism which helps to suck and discharge water into the ballast tank. This helps the submarine to sink inside the water and float it back to surface. In addition, we also implement the pressure relief valve to overcome the drawback of the excess pressure generated in the air chamber and the navigation system which will help the submarine to take a turn in left and right direction. Surely the ballast tank is an engineering master piece that has proved its purpose and might over the years Submarine is a vehicle which travel underneath sea surface by varying its buoyancy. The world is looking forward to seeing the newer changes in the submarine technology. The paper is an effort to look into the engineering aspects of a ballast tank which includes construction details, submerging of submarine, and different mechanism for achieving the task.Item Design and favrication of attachement made for lathe machine(AIKTC, 2017-04) Hirani, Aslam; Naik, Shohin (13ME96); Pathan, Toufik (13ME99); Patil, Vaibhav (13ME100); Lugade, Swarupanand (13ME121)Grinding is an operation which is done on metal workpiece for removal of material and to get fine surface finish. The available grinding setups are not convenient for small scale industries as they consume lots of time in loading and unloading of workpiece from lathe machine to this grinding setups, which also affects the overall productivity of the firm. Here we have fabricated a grinding setup which gets mounted in the available space of lathe machine on lathe cross slide in front of the tool post where cutting tool is placed, with this the operator will be able to use the grinding setup as soon as he finishes his operations on lathe machine without having the need of removing his workpiece. We have made a grinding system which can be attached on lathe machine without removing the tool post or any other part of lathe machine. It can perform grinding operation on cylindrical surfaces as well as surfaces which are tapered. The system was first made on inventor with suitable dimensions and then fabricated with proper calculations, this grinding system enables the worker to save time and cost of equipment’s which in turn resulted in increase in productivity of the firm. As setup is mounted on lathe cross slide it can be given forward and backward or left and right motion by using the hand wheel which we used to move the cutting tool mounted in tool post of lathe. The grinding setup was fabricated with proper design calculations and is tested successfully for giving the desired results.Item Design of cost effective CNC using Arduino Uno(AIKTC, 2018-05) Hirani, Aslam; Diwan, Zaid(15DME124); Walele, Yasar(14ME62); Ansari, Shadab(14ME06); Khan, Sarwar(12ME84)CNC Technology has proven to be of great use in the sector of contemporary CNC system along with higher computational and memory storage capacity of modern computer, redefined the shop floor automation strategies. For the modern sector one of the biggest challenge today is how to make a CNC technology affordable, simpler and available to an extent that even an occasional user can think of owning such technology. Our proposed work was to achieve the objective of developing a low-cost effective CNC that can perform the basic operations. Based on our design and requirements, standard components required for developing the low-cost machine were selected. This resulted in developing CNC control by using Arduino microcontroller. The Z-Axis motion was obtained by moving the spindle motor housing, the X axis motion was obtained by moving the table and, the Y-axis movement was achieved by the sliding of spindle housing in Y direction. Thus completing the three basic Axes of the required.Item Design of mini CNC using arduino uno(Fast Track Publications, 2019-04) Mukadam, Wasif (16DME162); Qureshi, Md. The popularity of the air conditioner has only peaked ever since it’s invention. However, it has been one of the noted reasons for the increase in Global Warming. This is due to the contribution of Refrigerants in the increase of greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere. It also uses a lot of energy. To save the environment from degradation as well as to save energy we need to keep upgrading the air conditioning appliance to provide more efficiency and use less refrigerant so as to cause less air pollution. Normally the air-conditioner used is either split AC or centralized system however we are using Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system which is a type of HVAC system combining both the types and providing the benefits of both. The design is for commercial office situated in Maharashtra at longitude of 73o50’ and latitude of 18o 31’ with an elevation of 560m from sea level for a total airconditioned space of 5113 sq. Ft and other office at longitude of 72° 52’ and latitude 19° 5’, 14 m above sea level situated in Andheri, Mumbai. The purpose is to achieve 24oC DBT and 17oC WBT from outside design conditions of 36oC DBT and 22oC WBT using standard data books.Item Development of cold and hot water using peltier effect(AIKTC, 2021-05) Hirani, Aslam; Shaikh, Taiyab Gafur (18DME52); Khan, Mukarram Ali Masood (17ME39); Khan, Shakib Mohammed Soheb (17ME43)The selection of this topic gives us an opportunity to learn new method and technologies. Imtiaz (16DME161)As we all know heat is one of the different forms of energy and to alleviate the problem of protection of global environment saving of energy is very important.Whenever the heat is evolved from any system to the environment, the surrounding temperature increases which nothing but leads to global warming. So in any field the conservation of energy should be done up to the best. So considering the above points we took one of the most usable appliances i.e. water cooler or domestic refrigerator. Of course, condenser is the part which evolves the heat to surrounding atmosphere. So we attempted to recover or utilize the heat which is been wasted from the condenser to surrounding. Normally water cooler or refrigerator is having air-cooled condenser which we have replaced with water-cooled condenser. We are working on water cooler, so we have arranged two insulated tanks, one for cold water which is usually present in the water cooler and other for hot water which is additional tank we modified. We have dipped condenser tube in additional tank filled with water. Now because of this the heat from condenser which is been getting evolved, rising the temperature of water in the tank which is additionally placed. So this hot water can be used for household purpose replacing geyser. As power consumption of this heat recovery system is very much lesser than geyser although its heating capacity somewhat falls below the capacity of geyser we can substitute the geyser with above system as heating required for household purpose is fulfilled by our system. Here the heating of water will be carried out with the same input power given to cool the water. Hence, energy is been saved up to better extent which leads to the increment of COP ( Co-efficient Of Performance) along with provision of hot water besides cold water. After all this system rejects negligible amount of heat in the surrounding, so it will affect global environment near to nothing.Item Dual use of vapour compression refrigeraton system (VCRS)(AIKTC, 2019-05) Hirani, Aslam; Khan, Rehman Feroz [16DME154]; Momin, Mohammad Imtiaz [16DME161]; Mogal, Usama Zafar [16DME160]; Lore, Ubed Basheer [16DME157]As we all know heat is one of the different forms of energy and to alleviate the problem of protection of global environment saving of energy is very important. They are made of an elastic wire material formed into the shape of a helix. They are commonly referred to as a coil spring or a helical spring. They are used to store energy and subsequently release it to absorb shock or to maintain a force between contact surfaces. The spring returns to its natural length or position when unloaded. Spring (BOLSTER) used in railway coaches have been failing prematurely much before their intended service life. The springs are made with quality materials. Visual examination shows that failure is common between first to third coils. The exact time of failure cannot be determined as the coaches come for POH after 18 months. Some cracks also negotiate during load testing. Pattern of cracks showing it may subject to transverse forces. The cracks are detected in Magna-flux testing. The present works attempt to analyze design of secondary suspension springs used in Railway coaches under transverse loading by using ANSYS 19.1 software. Stresses induced are compared with allowable stresses. Typical 13T NON-A/C coaches have been considered for the failure analysis. Hence rapidness and quick working is the most important. Now days for making security system easier, there for making a system security for easy data collection. The engineer inconstantly conformed to the challenges of bringing ideas in to reality. The project “SYSTEM SECURITY NUMBER PLATE‟ this is the security system is based on detection of number plate, which is based on timing of entry and exist of vehicles into a particular area, area is like residential, apartments, malls, hotels etc, Day by day the use of vehicles in our life is rising exponentially and as increasing vehicles are violating the rules of traffic, theft of vehicles, ingoing to restricted areas, abnormal number of accidents lead to upturn in the crime rates linearly. For any vehicle to be acknowledged, vehicle license plate detection will play a main significant job in this active world. In present day scenario vehicles play a vital role in transportation system and the use of vehicles is also increasing exponentially due to the population growth and their needs. License Number plate recognition is an image processing technology that recognizes the authorized vehicles. This project presents an approach based on simple but efficient morphological operation and Sobel edge detection method. This approach is simplified to segmented all the letters and numbers used in the number plate by using bounding box method. After segmentation of numbers and characters present on number plate, template matching approach is used to recognition of numbers and characters. The concentrate is given to locate the number plate region properly to segment all the number and letters to identify each number separately Keywords: Number Plate Recognition (NPR), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Automated Teller Machine.Item Vapour absorption refrigeration system(AIKTC, 2019) Hirani, AslamItem Walker+wheelchair+stretcher(AIKTC, 2021-05) Hirani, Aslam; Gandhi, Asif; Shaikh, Asadullah (16ME66); Shaikh, Shafiullah (16ME85); Siddiqui, Zulfikar (16ME88); Thapa, Chetman (16ME90)A walker is a walking aid used by people who have difficulty walking around without any support and wheelchair is a mobility device which has wheels on chair mostly used by people who are unable to walk even with the help of walking aids. Over the years many attempts have been made to unify this and this is our attempt in unifying them with an added advantage of it being able to convert into stretcher. And by doing so reduce the cost of buying multiple walking aids and provide an emergency backup long after the products usage/life cycle is completed. The goal of this design project was to create a single product that can replace 3 different products which are use for similar problems at varying degree of the users condition. The 3 different products here are – walker, wheelchair & stretcher. Walker and wheelchair are both walking aids for people who are partially or completely unable to walk. It is walker that can be converted into a wheelchair so that the handicap person can use it however he likes or however the situation demaands it. The best part is that it is very flexible in terms of how you can assemble it. It can be converted into wheelchair if the user wants to travel in a wheelchair or just a regular chair if he/she is tired of using the walker and is just looking for some rest.
