Item Achieving quality excellence in Indian engineering education: modelling and analysis using system dynamics(International Journal of Business Excellence - Inderscience, 2016-04) Honnutagi, Abdul RazakAs the Indian industry becomes globally competitive in several sectors, one of the critical factors is the success of the engineering and technical education. The objective of this paper is to present a research study initiated for developing an integrated framework for quality excellence in engineering education. About 20 quality excellence models and international quality awards were studied in depth and it was found that almost all models lack predictive ability. In order to incorporate predictive ability of the quality excellence models, system dynamics methodology was used in the study. The system dynamics model thus developed for predicting quality excellence was used to generate various scenarios and analysed. which are presented in this paper.Item Comparative study of design aspects and construction practices of silos(AIKTC, 2018-05) Honnutagi, Abdul Razak; Khan, Mohd Farhan Mohd Aslam (14CE29); Niyazi, Aftab Irshad Ahmed (14CE42); Shaikh, Ahteshaam Imtiyazali (14CE51); Shaikh, Saif Aslam (14CE56)Silo is the term applied commonly to a structure in which dry granular materials are stored. Silos are those structures in which the height of the container is large as compared to its diameter so that the plane of rupture cuts the opposite side and does not cut the top horizontal surface. Silos are used in a wide range of industries, such as agriculture, mining, chemical engineering, power plants, cement and food processing, where most bulk solids storage, handling and transportation systems are applied for storing solid materials like grains, coal, cement etc. When bulk solids are allowed to flow out of a bin or hopper under gravity alone, its flow pattern can be basically of two types: mass flow or funnel flow. With mass flow, the hopper is sufficiently steep and smooth to cause flow of all the solids in the bin without ‗dead‘ regions occurring during discharge, funnel flow occurs when the hopper is not sufficiently steep and smooth to force material to slide along the walls or when the outlet of a bin is not fully effective, due to poor feeder or outlet design. From the view point of processing, mass flow is preferred in making the bulk solids processing system efficient, reliable, predictable and more easily controlled. The flow of solid particles from mass flow bins or mass flow hoppers is, therefore, a subject of considerable practical and theoretical interest. In this project, a comparative study has been carried out on the design of silos by Indian Standard (IS) and applying rational method to provide a good hopper. In addition, schedule bar bending and cost estimation has been prepared for various heights of silos for better optimisation and economy.Item Effect of coconut fibre in concrete and to improve the workability by incorporating an admixture(AIKTC, 2016-05) Honnutagi, Abdul Razak; Shaikh, Md. Shadab (12CE54); Siddiqui, Saquib (12CE60); Hamza, Sayyed (12CE46); Shaikh, Shamsuddoha (12CE56)Natural fibres are those fibre which are pollution free, environment friendly and does not have any bad effect on climate. Every year there is ample amount of wastages of natural fibre .If these natural fibres used as a construction material it could save the bio-reserves. They acts as green construction material. Amongst all natural fibres, CF is the fibre which has the better physical and chemical property also it is renewable, cheap, resistant to thermal conductivity, more durable, highest toughness, most ductile then the other natural fibre, it is capable of taking strain four time more than other fibres. Hence, CF is a best material to be used in construction. The objective of this investigation is to enhance the strength properties of concrete using coconut fibre. Addition of CF resulted into cohesive mix. To overcome this drawback the suitable dosage of admixture was incorporated without effecting it strength properties. In the present study the behavior of specimen with respect to compressive strength and the cracking behavior of concrete and CFRC has been investigated. According to I.S. specification different test is conducted to enhance the workability and strength properties by addition of CF. different test such as slump test and flow table test on fresh concrete is carried out and compressive strength and split tensile strength is carried out on hard concrete. The present study involves the use of super plasticizer, master glenium 8654 (0.4% by mass cone test) in M30 grade of concrete (grade ratio =1:1.918:2.898) which helps in enhancing the workability without affecting the strength with CF (2%,3.5%,5%) and is compared with the conventional concrete of same grade.Item Institutional Repository: A Novel Outlook to Preserve and Disseminate Knowledge in Higher Education(K.K. Lesser studies have been done for the construction material waste reduction or optimization directly at the time of its use on site. The basic aim of this study is to describe the methods by which the construction material as a resource can be used sustainably reducing the wastages and prevention at site during construction. The study discloses that selection of less experienced working method and the poor quality of materials to be used on site also results in material wastage during sudden design stage. The major beginning of material wastages during construction stage are improper uses of material as well as labors. Similarly, while procurement, wastages are caused during loading, unloading and transportation processes and unavailability to order small quantities of material. Also, lack of knowledge and improper security for materials procured causes the same even before its use on site. Thus, the study can be used further in co-ordination of optimization techniques on site to reduce the wastages and cost of materials during construction.Item Review on weibull analysis for performance evaluation in construction project(International Advanced Research Journal in Science, Engineering and Technology, 2018-02) Gavaskar, Pradnya (16CEM05); Magar, Rajendra; Honnutagi, Abdul RazakIn construction projects, construction project managers monitor and control the project performance to ensure the project is under control. The Earned Value Management (EVM) method is a tool that integrates three critical elements of project management: scope management, cost management, time management. EVM is traditi onally used to monitor and control the project performance by using cost and schedule indices. EVM is widely used to forecast project cost and time at completion. However, the application of EVM is limited due to poor accuracy in forecasting cost and sched ule performance. Conventional EVM has inability to address the uncertainties as well as their causes and effects. Recently, many EVM - based cost and schedule performance forecasting methods were introduced by many researchers. This study describes the major aspects of EVM and useful statistical techniques to enhance the effective application of EVM in project management. Further it includes the overview of a statistical approach to refine and improve the performance of conventional EVM by introduction of Wei bull Analysis. This can be used in addition with EVM to give probabilistic approach to evaluate cost and schedule performance in construction projectItem Use of earn value management in Indian construction industry: State of Art(International Journal of Engineering Research, 2016-01-08) Honnutagi, Abdul Razak; Magar, Rajendra; Shukla, ManojkumarProject cost and schedule are the most essential governing factor for the successful completion of project. EVM technique can do forecasting of duration for a project. It gives a well defined path way of existence to the project and when to take precautionary measures for updating the project if project is behind the schedule. It can be use to identify the cost over runs and time over runs. EVM technique can be apply using certain software like MSP, Primavera, etc...Item Way to enhanced the durability of cncrete by using bio-influence material(AIKTC, 2017-05) Honnutagi, Abdul Razak; Chaudhary, Shakeel (14DCE70); Momin, Faeque (14DCE71); Shaikh, Mohd. Sohail (14DCE79); Siddiqui, Mohd. Altaf (14DCE81)As water is becoming a scarce material day-by-day, there is an urgent need to do research work pertaining to saving of water in making concrete and in constructions. Curing of concrete is maintaining satisfactory moisture content in concrete during its early stages in order to develop the desired properties. However, good curing is not always practical in many cases. Curing of concrete plays a major role in developing the concrete microstructure and pore structure and hence improves its durability and performance. Keeping importance to this, an attempt has been made to develop internal-curing concrete by using Sapindus mukurossi. In this experimental investigation, the strength characteristics of normal cement mortar cast with the self-curing agent Sapindus mukurossi have been studied and compared with the corresponding conventionally cured concrete. Is method of mix design was adopted, for the normal strength internal curing of cement mortar of 1:3. Cement mortar is design on trial and error basis. For producing internalcuring concrete trial dosage of 2%, 2.5%, 3%, 3.5%, 4% and 5% of Sapindus mukurossi by weight of water was used and tested. It was observed that after implementation of this technique the water consumption for curing was reduced upto some extent.
