(18ME49); Khan, Mohd Salman (18ME53)An electric wire cutting machine is a technology dealing with the application of mechatronics, and computers to produce goods and services. Automation is broadly classified into manufacturing automation, and services automation. The company mainly manufactures screw caps, glass bottles, aluminum containers & canisters, two-toned caps for spray bottles, attar bottle caps, R.O.P.P caps, tin containers, tin caps, tin container components, rings, and collars, etc for making all these components blanking, coining, curling, cut off, extruding, morning, piercing, shaving, trimming, slagging and compound operations are used. Punching is done by a punch press which changes the shape of metal to form and cut it. As metal is passed through the press, it is cut and formed to pre-set shapes. During sheet metal forming, two different parts may be used. One part is called the punch. It performs the stretching and bending or blanking operation, while the other part is called the die block. It securely clamps the workpiece and provides similar stretching bending or blanking operations. A workpiece may go through several stages using different tools and operations to obtain the final form. Hydraulic system is one of the latest technologies in industrial field. Hydraulic cylinder is an important part of hydraulic system which makes it more important as industrial product. Fixtures are used to hold the work piece and serve as one of the most important facility of mass production system. Welding fixtures are normally designed to hold and support the various components (work pieces) to be welded. It is necessary to support them in a proper location which is capable of preventing distortions in work pieces during welding. We will be evaluating the existing system of processing hydraulic cylinder in the plant. The current system uses manually rotation of the cylinder. Hence, we will be designing a welding fixture which will be holding the hydraulic cylinder in one position and welding can be done at the required area. The present report discusses the various methods and effective system which is adopted to increase the productivity of the plant.Item Design modification of shock absorber(AIKTC, 2018-05) Kazi, Javed; Baig, Mohd. Nauman(14ME67); Khan, Saqib(14ME85); Patel, Tabish(14ME99); Solkar, Aamir(14ME119)This project on the Design Modification of Gabriel Shock Absorbers was carried out at the Matunga Railway Carriage Workshop. The purpose of the project is to increase the lifespan of the shock absorbers by implementing a more efficient design than the present one. This will also ensure lower maintenance cost and greater damping effect. It was found that the shock absorber used to accumulate water in its previous design leading to corrosion and reducing of its lifespan. All the other methods of corrosion resistance were considered and change in design was found most suitable. The modified design ensures that the accumulation does not occur and better damping effects. Here main purpose will be enhancing the performance of the VAWT by designing guide vanes and fabricating with a low cost and get more shaft torque and rpm. The electric energy is produced by different sources like hydroelectric power plants, thermal energy power plants, nuclear power plants, etc. The application uses the electric energy and does the work. All the work done is not utilized, some of work gets wasted. So the ways to avoid the wastage must be found out. There are different ways to recover from the energy crisis. In a water cooler, water is cooled with the help of electric energy. Most of the time the cold water gets wasted in varying amounts. So indirectly the electric energy gets wasted. This energy must be saved. This project deals with designing and developing a working model of heat exchanger. A heat exchanger is a piece of equipment built for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another with or without direct contact between the working fluids. This heat exchanger is used to minimize the energy consumption of water coolers. Main objective of the project is pre-cooling of filtered water by using drain water as a cooling medium. This heat exchanger is fitted externally to the water cooler without changing any internal setup of the water cooler. Thus without use of any external work this Heat Exchanger works successfully and required results are obtained. Ltd. And try to reducing variation and decrease the material waste. This project focused on the step by step administration ground rule demanded for robust practice of 5s as a part of the daily management. It describes the idea to implement each and every base of 5s methodology-Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke in the industry in continuity to bring about a broad perfection in its performance.The results of this research obtained from a comparative measurement of organizational performance before and after 5S implementation. The results show that 5S is an effective tool for improvement of organizational performance, regardless of organization type, size, its production or its service. All are facing certain problems resulting in lack of productivity, greater processing time etc. The basis definition of Kaizen philosophy & a brief review of kaizen concept & its implementation. The purpose is to represent Kaizen, its related terms in a concrete way & its implementation in improving the overall effectiveness of small scale organization situated in India. This illustrate about kaizen implementation in small manufacturing industry & also focuses on the scenario of Indian manufacturing company while implementing Kaizen. This also reviews that it basically focuses on implementation of kaizen technique in small manufacturing companies. For detail justification of project conducted in the small manufacturing company who is dealing with manufacturing of Stainless Steel products. The company is currently facing the problem of increased lead time . In order to solve the faced problem we emphasize on two major alternatives & select Kaizen as a main productivity improvement tool. This implementation is focuses on reducing the lead time of sales order processing by mean of which the productivity of organization will be improved. The purpose of the project is to reduce the workforce in process of cleaning and scraping of brake pipes. This will also ensure lower maintenance cost and reduces time taken for the cleaning process. In the process of POH the pipes has been cleaned with a long process so that all the rust , dirt and paint on the pipe is removed. In this project we are going eliminate the mock test by standardizing the value of wattage required for expansion system by considering selected material and size.
