Item Bird Strike Analysis on an Aircraft Aerofoil(AIKTC, 2020-05) Khan, Yusuf; Mahaldar, Affan Khalil (16ME38); Mulla, Sahil Ahmed Shahzad Ali (16ME49); Shaikh, Arsalan Ayub (15ME42); Shaikh, Shakir Ali Mohammed Hussain (15ME50)Bird strikes have long been a significant threat to aviation safety. The first bird strike dated back to September 7, 1905, recorded by the Wright brothers. The United States Air Force reported 13427 bird/wildlife strikes to aircraft worldwide between 1989 and 1993, and estimated the damage to civilian and military aircraft to cost hundreds of millions of dollars every year. Most bird strikes occurred when an aircraft was at a low altitude during the takeoff and landing phases of a flight. The most vulnerable components to bird strikes are aircraft engines, nose, and wings. To ensure flight safety, aviation regulations require a certain level of bird strike resistance for critical components. As specified in Part 25 of Federal Aviation Regulations, an airplane must be capable of successfully completing a flight during which likely a structural damage occurs as a result of impact with a 4 lb (1 lb = 0.4536 kg) bird (8 lb for an empennage structure) when the velocity of the airplane relative to the bird along the airplane’s flight path is equal to Vc (design cruise speed) at the sea level or 0.85Vc at 8000 ft (1 ft = 0.3048 m), whichever is more critical. Similar requirements have also been included in the China Civil Aviation Regulations (CCAR) and the certification specifications CS-25 (Large Airplanes) by the European Aviation Safety Agency. This calls for continuous efforts to design bird-strike-resistant aircraft components through a combination of tests and simulations.Item CNC plasma cutting machine(AIKTC, 2021-05) Khan, Yusuf; Khan, Altamash (17ME25); Khan, Faizan Ahmed (17ME31); Khan, Hifzurrehman (17ME38); Khan, Mutassim (17ME40)In the developing stages of all conventional machining processes there is a special and most important type of non-conventional machining has been developed during early years of mechanical era. The most important and reliable development is the plasma arc cutting machine due to its high rate of cutting speed and greater accuracy lead to the development of this machining process. The most important aspect of this type is that it can cut any type of harder material through hot jet of plasma. Another main and most important is cost parameter because of material used in this machine is of low cost efficient compared to any other machining processes in the market. The modern framework and body frame of mechanical components has become the heart of the any industry. This book illustrates the design of plasma cutting machine through set of design considerations. The rapid developing technology i.e., plasma cutting machine plays an important role in the industry, the plasma cutting machine uses jet of hot plasma to cut metal pieces using some set of components they are CNC machine, controllers, machine table and most 2D software which used to convert images to some set of CNC codes to operate in specified coordinates. The system includes four key parts: a rack and pinion mechanism, linear permanent magnet DC generator, a current adjustment MR damper, and control circuit. Semi active control devices have received significant attention in recent years because they offer the adaptability of active control devices without requiring the associated large power sources. Magneto rheological (MR) dampers are semi active control devices that use MR fluids to produce controllable dampers. The advantage of MR dampers is over conventional dampers are they are simple in construction, compromise between high frequency isolation and natural frequency isolation, they offer semi-active control, have very quickly response. Magneto rheological fluids controllable fluids belonging to the class of active materials that have a unique ability to change the dynamic to change dynamic yield stress when acted upon by an electric or magnetic field, while maintaining viscosity relatively constant. This property can be utilised in MR damper where the damping force is changed by changing the rheological properties of fluid magnetically. The objective of the project to study the application of MR damper to vibration control, design the vibration damper using MR fluids, test and evaluate its performance. In this project the rheology and the theory behind MR fluids and the theory on vibration control were studied. To fulfill this problem the automobile industries are trying to make new vehicle which can provide high efficiency with low cost. The best way to increase the fuel efficiency is to reduce the weight of the automobile. The weight reduction can be achieved primarily by the introduction of better material, design optimization and better manufacturing processes. The achievement of weight reduction with adequate improvement of mechanical properties has made composite a very good replacement material for conventional steel. The automobile vehicles have number of parts which can be able to replace by composite material, but due to the improvement of mechanical properties of composite material. It has more elastic strength and high strength to weight ratio has compared with those of steel material. So, out of many components one of the components of automobile, the leaf spring which use for carried out the whole weight of the vehicle is best option for replacement of steel material by composite material.Item Design of electrically controlled bearing removing mechanism(AIKTC, 2020-05) Khan, Yusuf; Shaikh, Mohammed Raashid Mohammed Ilyas (16ME75); Shaikh, Mohammed Faisal Asif (16ME70); Singh, Omprakash Murlidhar (15ME116); Shaikh, Ismail Obaidur Rehman (14ME112)This study focuses in the development of the Electrically Controlled Bearing Puller. The machine named ball turner which is available in the market for manufacturing spherical objects cost very high.Item Vapour absorption refrigeration system(AIKTC, 2018-05) Khan, Yusuf; Khan, Raheem(14ME26); Nadgaonkar, Khalid(14ME37); Kasu, Nahid(14ME39); Khan, Sufyan(14ME88)The improvement in the quality of life has increased the demand for Refrigeration systems throughout the world. The use of high-grade energy for the operation of these systems is associated with Green House Gas emissions and thermal pollution in the form of waste heat besides depletion of fossil fuels. In this context, vapour absorption refrigeration systems are looked upon with renewed interest as they work on heat operated system with environment friendly working fluids. Heat rejection capacities of these systems are higher than that of electrically operated vapour compression systems. Hence, considerable advantage lies in the use of air-cooled absorber and condenser especially with reference to the small capacity vapour absorption refrigeration units. This eliminates the necessity of a cooling tower and the associated maintenance issues. Utilizing the generator-absorber heat exchange principle in the conventional ammonia-water system reduces the generator heat input and thereby enhancing the system coefficient of performance. This thesis presents both the theoretical and experimental investigations on the air-cooled modified generatorabsorber heat exchange based vapour absorption refrigeration system, using ammonia-water as the working fluid. The feasibility of operating a small capacity (10.5 kW) air-cooled modified generator-absorber heat exchange based vapour absorption refrigeration system using ammonia-water as the working fluid has been established. The performance of the system tested is higher compared to the conventional single effect ammonia-water system. These systems could be employed for cold storage applications in the rural and semi urban areas.
