Experimental investigation on behavior of piled raft foundation
(AIKTc, 2017-04) Maralapalle, Vedprakash; Ansari, Mohd. Sameer (13CES09); Shah, Abdul (13CES48); Shaikh, Azaz (13CES49); Sayyeed, Gufran (13CES44)
This study presents an experimental investigation on behavior of piled raft system in sandy soil. A small scale “prototype” model was tested in a sand box with load applied to the foundation through a compression jack and measured by means of a load cell. The load vs settlement is observed for different configuration of piled raft system. The configurations of pile groups are unpiled raft, raft with 1,2,3,4,6,9,12,16 piles were tested in the laboratory, in addition to tests for varying raft thickness & pile length. The results of the tests show the effectiveness of using piles as settlement reduction measure with the rafts. As the number of settlement reducing piles increases, the load improvement ratio increases and the differential settlement ratio decreases & as the length of the pile increases the settlement reduces.

Experimental Investigation on Behavior of Piled- Raft Foundation
(International Journal for Science and Advance Research In Technology, 2017-06) Maralapalle, Vedprakash; Dasgupta, Rohan; Shaikh, Wasim (14CEM14)
Abstract-In the piled-raft foundation systems the load is assumed to be shared between the piles and raft. Therefore, this improves the ultimate load capacity and reduces settlements in a very economic way as compared with the traditional foundation concepts. The use of strategically located piles improves the load capacity of raft and reduces the differential settlement. This research sheds some light on the philosophy of using piles as settlement reducer for raft foundation and also the behavior of pile length and alignment on the attained ultimate load are experimentally investigated. The experimental program includes the model test on unpiled raft, raft supported by single pile, (2x2), (3x3) and (4x4) pile groups. From the accomplished studies, it has been concluded that as the number of piles underneath the raft increases, load carrying capacity of foundation increases. Also, there is a negligible effect on load improvement ratio and settlement reduction ratio with increase in raft thickness and number of piles. The observed settlement values from Experimental study was compared with numerical modeling using PLAXIS-3D and found the results are in good agreement. Keywords- Piled-Raft, PLAXIS-3D, Ultimate Load, Foundation.

Only limited research has been done on experimental Study on Behavior of piled-raft foundation, this paper presents a literature review on the experimental program is aimed to investigate the behavior of Piled- Raft Foundation. Prediction of Blast Loading and Remedial Measures on Buildings
(International Conference On “Emerging Trends in Technology and it’s Applications”, 2014) Maralapalle, Vedprakash
Events of the last ten years have greatly heightened the awareness of building owners and designers of the threat of terrorist attacks using explosives. Blast loads become important service loads for certain categories of structures. An important task in blast-resistant design is to make a realistic prediction of the blast pressures. The distance of explosion from the structure is an important datum, governing the magnitude and duration of the blast loads. The current practice is to choose some arbitrary distance for design purposes. This paper presents some results of analytical studies to show that such a notion is likely to be erroneous, particularly for tall and slender structures. The elements of the blast phenomenon are reviewed, before going into the formulations leading to the ‘critical blast distance’ at which the transient dynamic response rises to a maximum. It also contains Treatment provided to various part of a structure to improve blast resisting mechanism and Architectural aspect of blast resistant buildings design.
