Architectural manifestation of music: Music school
(AIKTC, 2021-05) Prajapati, Sandeep; Thorat, Swastik Vilas (16AR28)
Music has always played a very important role. If we consider all the societies and cultures, music being an art form which speaks about the evolution of that society or culture. If we look back to the history of Indian Classical Music, it has developed through very intricate interactions amongst people of different cultures from many years which can be dated back to 3000-1 200 BC. However, the evolution of music got influenced from not only cultures but with the advancements and improvements in the music in terms of notations, scale, rhythm, instruments, language, etc. From these advancements the concept of ragas evolved which can be found in c. 700 A.D. From c.1200A.D-c.1700A.D., various styles like qawwali, naqsh and many more other forms of music were invented. Eventually, gharanas which are also called as schools emerged which further led to the concept of performing and accommodation for the performers of royal courts who were accommodated by the royals. The guru-shishya parampara in music became more popular when the musicians performed in the royal courts in front of the people and the person who got interested in that style of music was free to take lessons from the gurus and staying with him at the same time. The performances in the royal courts thus further gave aesthetics to music. Thus, the gharanas gave music a new approach in terms of form and interpretation both in terms of music and architecture. The evolution of music thus did not remain confined to the notes or the rhythm but also started evolving in terms of the space and the quality. The old tradition of music has to be preserved as they are a very important part of musical heritage. But, the approach for the Indian classical music, especially the guru-shishya parampara which was earlier followed as gharana style is becoming very superficial. Also, the gharana style of teaching is not becoming inviting for large number of people because of varied approach towards music and the wide range of music which is getting popular nowadays. Also, the absence of royal patronage has also resulted as a setback. The mutual relations between the two art forms, that is, music and architecture will intervene a new approach where architecture will act as a tool which will express the art of music, especially the structure of gharanas, in terms of quality of space externally as well as internally which will increase the prominence of this style of school and thus provide a space for the gharana which are getting extinct in this date.

Human centric health care: Role of architecture in hospital design
(AIKTC, 2017-05) Prajapati, Sandeep; Chogale, Heena (12ARC06)
Healthcare buildings are to be designed as living spaces for patients rather than warehouses for the sick. It has to be remembered that a hospital is not a factory in which the assembly lines dictates all aspects of design but is a community in which the patient is fundamental to the successful working of the whole. Needs and expectations of the patients have to be visualized, analyzed and fulfilled. The hospital building should provide the patients a sense of safety, comfort, dignity and repose. It should also provide pleasing spaces for patients, families and visitors as well as imbibe the cultural concerns of the community This thesis is therefore intended to elucidate on how to create a healing environment in light of growing health challenges The aim is to have a humanizing architecture that can positively contribute to the healing process. It should make the patient enjoy the best of bioclimatic comfort. Healthcare Design must also satisfy professional requirements. The physical environment of the healthcare facility should firstly do no harm and secondly facilitate healing process Hospital is an institution providing medical and surgical treatment and nursing care for sick or injured people. In case of Roha there are no multi-speciality hospitals or proper health care facility in the vicinity. Based on the statistics of roha town it shows that the area lacks health centre to cater the citizens .As a result of this patient have to be rushed to nearby developed areas to obtained that required treatment .this is the major issue since it poses as a threat to the health and lives of patients that have to be taken to the nearby cities. Immediate treatment is not available. It is essential for basic and advance facilities to be provided with in the area to cater the patient residing in that area Hence there is a need of health care centre in the area, which will cater to the general public of that area and the people will not have to travel long distance for the kind of treatment needed.

Mumbai was a cluster of 7 islands, but subsequent land reclamation has turned all of them into a single land mass.Mumbai being a natural port with a sheltered harbour developed further into its own manufacturing centre, with the coming of the steam ships in the 1830's and the opening of the Suez Canal a generation later. When the Portuguese first arrived on the scene the main inhabitants of the islands were the simple fisherfolks known as the kolis, whose hamlets developed in coastal localities like Kolbhat or Colaba, PalvaBunder later known as Apollo Bunder, Dongri, Mazgaon, Naigaon and Worli. A shrine of their patron goddess, Mumbadevi, was built to the south of Dongri and gave the main island its name Mumbai. Now, it is the fastest moving, most affluent and most industrialized city of India. It has the country's busiest airport and port, handling 50% of the country's trade.

    Living with coexistance
(AIKTC, 2021-05) Prajapati, Sandeep; Deshmukh, Aarti Vijay (16AR04)
In the rapid development of urbanization, along with the trend of globalization, the architecture and landscape have been affected by the arbitrary and westernized style. The loss of historical sense and blind imitation led to the decline of the regional cultural elements of the city. Traditional courtyard-space design is an expression of regional and national spatial models, it also means to awaken and nurture memories of history and culture, so it ought to have its attention in modern architecture. Traditional courtyard-space functions as a kind of space organization, strengthen the building penetration of indoor and outdoor atmosphere. It accumulates in the aesthetic perception of life experience from generation to generation, to some extent, to meet the aesthetic demands of people, which resonated with people. Its unique cultural value should be inherited and developed in modern architecture. The essence of good architectural design is to achieve not only the visual aesthetics and functional fulfilment but more importantly human comfort in the buildings. An internal courtyard in the buildings of tropical climate has significant effects on the thermal performance of indoor spaces especially the adjacent areas. As an open space within a building, a courtyard is a design element in most of the vernacular buildings and was originally used in the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Tropical regions. The courtyards may be classified concerning size, height, depth, typology, and several planes making an enclosure. The size of the courtyard is defined based on the proportional area over which a courtyard extends. The height of any open space or courtyard within a residential unit defines its spatial character and use. Courtyards play a major role in guiding the sun and wind movements in the buildings. The quantity of wind and sunlight required its quantity, till what time… can be calculated by knowing the exact volume of a courtyard. The courtyards were and will be sources for social and cultural integration.

Rethinking understanding of vernacular into contemporary architecture
(AIKTC, 2022-05) Prajapati, Sandeep; Shaikh, Sumaiyya Faruk (17AR32)
India ranks second with its largest population around the globe and are among the rapidly enlarging economies in the world and therefore our energy consumption is expected to surge significantly. Increased energy consumption will lead to more greenhouse gas emissions with serious repercussions on the environment. “Energy use” being the topmost contributor to global warming, an obvious way to alleviate climate change is to design low or no-energy use buildings. To do so, requires going back to the basics and scrutinize cautiously, the way in which the building design is optimized to minimise the potential for extreme energy use, as these vernacular architecture proves to be energy efficient and sustainable, although some of them are presently no longer functioning properly because of the change in the culture and environmental situations. Thus, the research aims to learn about the values, the importance of vernacular architecture and how one can still preserve those values and importance in the present time. What is the need of preserving the values from the past? Why is it needed in the present? How one can do that without imitation or without understanding the concern behind vernacular architecture. Considering the site in the Lalkhoti area of Jaipur. which is a Climate Change Resilient City, and is the area of of focus in the urban city limits which has an important influence of climate change on urban morphology impacting the ambient temperature which give rise to Urban Heat Island effect on these areas. So here there is an attempt to propose a Material Research Institute in an urban context on a large scale to explain how vernacular practises were beneficial and have positive impact on the environment with the backup of its principles being followed such that by preserving those parameters from the vernacular architecture into contemporary design in the current time, how these problems can be catered through architectural invention.

    Revitalizing precinct of historical structure
(AIKTC, 2022-05) Prajapati, Sandeep; Khan, Tariq Mehboob (17AR17)
An historic / heritage site is a place where pieces of architectural, political, cultural, religious, or socio-economic history can be found. It can be any building, site or structure that acquires significance on a local, regional, national or international scale. As a result, such locations provide us with a vivid picture of the rule, culture, and faith of changing times that particular area embraced throughout the ages, thus creating a connection between generations, thereby shedding light on our ancestors and their traits. Architecture is deeply rooted in Indian culture, religion, and history. Once upon a time, India was known for its significant monuments and other historical structures. These vintage historical structures hold an important part in our history of human evolution. Each city has its own identity. It may get buried by intensive development and expansion of the city. For instance, Vapi city in Gujarat, India. Due to the rapid industrialization of the city, these structures were left unused. Many of these are on the verge of degradation. Therefore, now is the right time to revive these historical structures. Reactivating these spaces can be accomplished through small associate functions or architectural interventions. There is an urgent need to work on their preservation and reactivation.

(AIKTC, 2019) Prajapati, Sandeep; Bhattacharya, Manali (14ARC06)
A person spends 1/3rd his life getting educated at an institute we call ‘ school’. His childhood school experiences at such learning centres forms a major fragment of his personality and temperament. As we see in today’s youth – not only are they confused but also impulsive and impatient. The chief cause of this is the environment they thrive in. The space a person spends most of his time it has the maximum impact on his mental health and composure. When this space asks you to sit at one place for 8 hours straight and not make you wonder or ask question, this prolonged effects are corrupt.

In architecture there are many types of spaces, every spaces have their own sets of property which completes the overall experience of the space, some spaces are created for dedicated purpose and some are dynamic in nature, some are made to link the in between spaces which generally known as transition in spaces it is used for spatial continuity. To gain the knowledge of transitional spaces. I want to create a comprehensive learning which includes how they evolve, the way they evolve and layers, and examines their role and significance. There are many types of transitions within spaces that can be differentiated, in my research, I’m looking more particularly the transition from the natural to the built environment. Most of the people have lost touch with nature as well as its significance and its beneficial impact on our living, so this will be the journey of humans (user) through the perspective of Learning and admiring nature. In my study, I wanted to point out briefly about the connection linking man and nature, also the connection between nature and architecture, this learning is important to understand these spaces. They provide to the spatial characteristic of space, be it any setting or environment. Their role is functional, cultural, social,
