In turn, this has meant the structures have grown taller, transforming the skyline of cities, towns and villages as well as the industrial landscape. This trend has increased the risks associated with personnel rescue or evacuation from structures in an emergency. At first the solution was one of adding fixed structures either within or external to the main structure, such as fire escapes or stair wells. In the more recent past, over the last few decades, there has been a realization that alternative options need to be explored and developed to meet the challenges of modern living and structures. This has created a demand for equipment and systems that can either mass evacuate or single evacuate persons to safety, reducing the risk of injury or death. This additionally has resulted in a requirement and need to research methods and types of personal evacuation designs and a method to escape quickly and safely with minimal knowledge or training. The challenge for engineers is to develop equipment that is not reliant upon external power, is lightweight, easily transported and able to be retrofitted. Working in multi- discipline teams in order to gain the other perspectives on the problem such as the type of body device or harness to prevent injury due to suspension and being able to cope with physical disability. The starting point came from winch, machine braking and clutch systems linked with mountain climbing techniques.Item Design and fabrication of cnc plasma cutting machine(AIKTC, 2022-05) Shaikh, Saad; Majgaonkar, Adnan (19DME19); Dakhani, Arsalan (19DME05); Pawaskar, Jibran (19DME22); Khan, Raza (19DME16)With high speed of technology development, Plasma CNC machine plays an important role in industry, as it can cut any metal using only compressed air ignited at high voltage and high frequency. This project is conducted at Otoklin Global Business Ltd., a filter Manufacturing company located in at Sakinaka near Chandivali junction. The major problem faced by the company is poor utilization of space, poor material handling and safety hazards. There is high flow intensity between departments which have high interrelationship. This leads to high travelling time and high travelling cost which in turns decreases overall productivity of the company. An alternative layout is proposed using the 11 steps in Systematic Layout Planning, which is a systematic way of generating layout alternatives. The proposed layout involves transferring the departments which have high interrelationship close to each other. The proposed alternative layout is evaluated later. The layout is chosen based on the performance measures which have the most significant improvement, which are total travel distance, total travel time, output, average resource utilization, total average WIP level, total average waiting time and total time spent in manufacturing certain product either job order or in batches. The proposed layout results in smooth material flow, efficient utilization of floor area and increased in the area which can be used for producing more products simultaneously.Item Practicing Problem Based Learning (PBL) for teaching quality control tools:Case study of metrology and quality engineering course(K.K.Wagh Institute of engineering education & research, 2019-06-08) Ansari, Zakir; Shaikh, SaadTeaching is becoming a challenge in the current era. LATHE MACHINE is a machine tool that rotates a workpiece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing, and turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about that axis. In our project we have developed an application in which we have made use of AUGMENTED REALITY technology to help students learn LATHE Machine anytime time anywhere without physically having that machine with them. As the student coming from first year to second year and they are totally unaware of lathe machine and its operations. In order to make students familiar to lathe operations, This APP will help student to relate with lathe machines and its operations virtually .Only the thing required is an android phone and the application that we have developed. First the student will have to choose from the different operations provided in the application which he/she wants to learn. Application will then detect the ground plane and a LATHE Machine will be superimposed over the real-life ground displayed on the mobile device. Then the students can learn how to perform different operations. Besides this hand on can also be played by the students in the application but that will not be on AR mode but will be in 3D console mode. Keywords : Augmented Reality, Lathe Machine
