Handicrafts often reflect the culture and practices of an entire region. In India’s most diverse regions, handicrafts play a dominant role. Due to modernization and technological advancements, these traditional arts and crafts are dying out in India. Odisha has a long history of rich tradition and culture. However, according to studies, it also has a reputation as one of the country’s poorest states. The state is considered the land of handicrafts, making up an integral part of our cultural heritage. The research thesis is an attempt to protect and promote the culture and diminishing crafts of Odisha, a relatively unexplored state. It aims to generate awareness of the crafts, as well as create attraction towards the undiscovered culture. In addition, it will also help to provide the local artisans and craftsmen an elevated platform to display their talent and expand their reach. As a result, the research leads to an architectural intervention in arts and crafts that will conserve the crafts, boost the economic and social status of the local artisans and craftsmen, and contribute to the tourism sector. “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture” Fundamental Duties, 51 –A, Constitution of India.en_US
