Item Efficient data storage and retrieval system using own cloud for higher education institutes(K.K.Wagh Institute of engineering education & research, 2019-06-08) Ansari, Zakir; Khan, Tabrez; Syed, Kaleem; Syed, ShariqIn institutes of higher education, record keeping and its retrieval has always been a problem. Often it is required that the same documents which originated from a common source are to be used by multiple users at different places for different purposes. This puts forward multiple challenges ranging from timely retrieval to data security. To overcome all such issues, a safe, secured, updated and efficient retrieval system is installed, configured and maintained at the institute level using open source cloud software called Own cloud. The user groups have been created program-wise. Then the user accounts are created for every faculty and added to specific program group. A directory structure has been created considering the common ministrative and teaching-learning requirements of the programs. This structure has been shared with all the faculty members of the respective program. A write access or read access is provided to all the concerned users through which each user has required access on fly. Every faculty user has 1 GB quota and department clerk has 10 GB quota, which can be used to store individual's teaching-learning and administrative records. Such implementation has provided an immediate and efficient access to all the teaching-learning and administrative records at any point of time and any location.Item Faculty Performance Improvement: Survey of Factors and Remedies at AIKTC(Paper Presented @ International conference on "Recent Advances and Challenges in Engineering and Management", 2014-04) Ansari, ZakirImprovements in quality teaching-learning help in effective concept learning by the students. This has become a mandatory requirement for the institutes providing professional courses like Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy. This is because in such courses the focus is on learning concept so as to apply it in professional career of the students. In most of the cases different subjects of the professional courses are taught by different faculties. Their way of lecture delivery differs from person to person. The performance of the students is affected by some external factors as well as by the performance of their teachers. A survey of the factors affecting the students’ performance was done through the teaching faculties and two of the most significant factors were considered for improvement. The current paper aims at getting the responses of teachers having highest students’ feedback score through a questionnaire. The responses are for the factors affecting the performance of faculty. Based on the outcome of the survey the strategy to improve the teaching-learning process was decided. The student's interest decreasing day by day due to a lot of other reasons such as use of social media, and other distractions. The conventional style of teaching is no more effective and lot of research has been made in the use of different teaching methods such as project based learning, peer to peer learning, problem based learning etc. All these tools happens to be effective for the current students. This is more often in subjects which are theory based. The current work aims at using the real life problems for teaching Quality Control Tools to students of Third Year Mechanical Engineering. There are some Quality Control tools which are used for imparting quality in the product or the process. These tools are useful for finding out the causes for a nonconforming process or a non conforming product such as Pareto Chart, Cause and effect diagram etc. The students were taught these tools with the help of some real life problems directly faced by the students. This helped in grabbing the attention of the students as they feel that whatever is taught is part of their daily routine. The students were also given assignments on the said topic related to their own problems. The effectiveness of the said work was determined by conducting a test on the said topic for the students who were taught using this tool and the other set of students who were taught the topic in the conventional way. It was found that there is a marginal difference between the learning levels of the students of both the groups. It can be concluded that the use of modern teaching methods proves effective for the learning of the students.Item Quality management system (QMS), an assistance for NBA accreditation at UG engineering programmes(The Indian Journal of Technical Education, 2015-03) Ansari, ZakirThere is always felt a requirement of employable engineers by the corporate sector. There has to be some indicator for quality of a student passing from an Institute. Quality Management Systems (QMS) is a tool for implementing quality standards at an institute. The assessment of the quality for an educational institute is done by different certifying boards like National Board for Accreditation (NBA), Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) etc. In order to assure about the employability of a student passing out of the institute, accreditation is a vital tool. Because of this reason many institutes are opting for the accreditation for their different undergraduate programmes. It is a well known fact that institutions 4 going for NBA accreditation need a lot of documents to be prepared and maintained as per the NBA accreditation requirements. OMS is a system for executing activities in an organisation as per the defined procedures. There are a lot of similarities between QMS and NBA. However NBA requirements are very specific in nature and are restricted to an educational institute while QMS requirements are generic in nature which can be implemented in an educational institute, Manufacturing unit even at a hospital as it is the process certification and not the product certification. Hence for meeting the specific requirements of NBA, the generic requirements of QMS can be fulfilled which will help and assisst during NBA accreditation. The current paper discusses the the similarities between the two and the assistance that can be taken by implementing the OMS before applying for the NBA accreditation.Item Statistical determination of the most suitable way of performing beam reactions experiment(International Conference and Workshop on Advance in Mechanical Engineering 2014, TCET, Mumbai, India, 2014-02-28) Ansari, Zakirbeam reactions experiment is an experiment of the subject Enginnering Mecanics of First Year Engineering courses for all branches of Engineering, under University of Mumbai. In this experiment the reactions at the supports of a simply supported wooden beam are measured. The beam is supported by spring so that the deflection at the end supports can be measured with the help of a pointer connected to the spring. The spring at both ends deflects in proportion to the applied load and the distance of the load from the support.
